After some conversations with friends NOT on the fediverse I've arrived at calling it "independent social media."

This is better than "open source" or other titles, it better conveys the central difference.

Mastodon (or at least the apps for it) should make threading posts easier to do.

Being able to thread and post multiple short posts at once would be handy too.

Maybe Pixting for PixelFed?

I have no idea what it would be for PeerTube or any of the others.

Michigan was originally all woodlands and wetlands. So, why are there so many places here named after fields? And even a few named after mountains?? 🤔

The names don't really have anything at all to do with the actual geography, do they? Do city planners just randomly pick names from a book or something?

(The English and other European names that is. I bet the indigenous names actually make sense.)

Several years ago I decided to learn Blender to replace the very expensive but outdated 3D app I was using. It ended up being a fantastically good idea.

Now, I'm wondering if there are free and open source alternatives that are good enough to replace my Adobe apps for professional use (mostly Illustrator and Photoshop but really all of them)
