Since no one has the courage to say it, I'll say it.

The desire for AI and robotics is nothing more than the desire to exercise one's power over the activity of something else.

Simply put, slavery.

Rudy #Giuliani Told by Creditors to Sell Apartments 'as Soon as Possible'

“Lawyers allege Giuliani using his expenditure on upkeep of apartments as an excuse to keep spending $ that legally belongs to creditors. They said that he wrongly alleged that he was keeping "equity in his 2 apartments for the benefit of creditors."

The filing also says that Giuliani has shown a "blatant disregard" for a court order to reveal his income and assets to the creditors” https://www.newsweek.com/rudy-giuliani-must-sell-apartments-asap-bankruptcy-1912833

"Fairy tales are more than true," the princess read. "Not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."

The dragon considered this. "What of kings?"

"What of them?"

"Do fairy tales say how kings can be beaten?"

"Yes. By dragons..."

Fediversooo!

Found a queen ant on Park Ave. Looks like Prenolepis imparis, or the american winter ant. You can spot queens by their distinctive waddle. She was hustling along the side walk as if on her way to the Chanel store. Now she’s in one of my luxury ant condos— but don’t tell her I’ve moved her out to the Bronx.

Are you old enough, like me, to remember the Exxon Valdez catastrophe, a disastrous oil spill off the coast of Alaska in 1989?

Here's some important info about that event from Greg Palast...

"Don’t Buy Exxon’s Fable of the Drunken Captain"

The true cause of the Exxon Valdez catastrophe was the oil giant breaking their promises, cynically and disastrously, in the 15 years leading up to the spill.

As for Captain Joe Hazelwood, he was below decks, sleeping off his bender. At the helm, the third mate would never have collided with Bligh Reef had he looked at his Raycas radar.

But the radar was not turned on. In fact, the tanker’s radar was left broken and disabled for more than a year before the disaster, and Exxon management knew it. It was just too expensive to fix and operate.

Today, three decades after the oil washed over the Alaskan beaches, you can kick over a rock and it will smell like an old gas station.

The Fable of the Drunken Captain serves the oil industry well. It falsely presents America’s greatest environmental disaster as a tale of human frailty, a one-time accident. But broken radar, missing equipment, phantom spill teams, faked tests — the profit-driven disregard of the law — made the spill an inevitability, not an accident.

In 1967 the Torrey Canyon ran aground the SW UK coast, spilling an estimated 25–36 million gallons (94–164 million litres) of crude oil¹.

A $0.05 red light showing CLEARLY the steering system was in autopilot mode rather than on manual would have prevented that.

Since the captain had a mental crash all the blame went on him, but who was to blame for that unplanned warning light?

At industrial level this was be done since… uh, let me think… since the sale of olive oil was invented.

And it's not mafia, or other organized crime associations: in the most of the cases this is dona by just greedy people.

It annoys me how people talk about using social media like it's a vice. And a female-coded one at that.

"Spend less time on social media" is trotted out a virtuous in the same way that "not eating a pint of ice cream" is.

Imagine if in the early days of movable type, there were people going around saying "don't read pamphlets, they are full of misinformation"

Social media is the primary way news is disseminated. It is superseding newspapers and TV as the primary vector of mass media. 1/

In 1400 a dominican predicator told about writing: "Est virgo heac penna, meretrix est stampificata" (it is a virgin if made with a pen, a whore if printed).

Some contemporary people has the same point of view about social media.
