GrumblingGM

@GrumblingGM@dice.camp

Living in Antwerp, Belgium. Native Dutch speaker but mainly posting in English. I also understand French and German and might boost such.

Almost forever Game Master. Mainly Old School Renaissance and Free League's Year Zero Engine.

Regularly running games at Outpost in Antwerp & Delierium in Lier; online via Foundry VTT.

PS: Grumbling is a play on Grognard / old school player. Not actually grumpy unless it's early morning and I haven't had my coffee yet.

I love and I especially love it's many adventures, but for a sci-fi horror game, there's not a lot of pure horror scenarios IMO. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of horrific and weird stuff in them, but I'd like to check out some "purer" horror adventures. What are your favorites so I may check them out?

@Tim_Eagon I bought a set of cosmic horror pamphlet adventures for Mothership recently but I forgot the name. Will need to check the box when I'm home tonight.

[briefly perks up at chatter about a new Discworld RPG]

[notices it's Modiphius]

[sighs]

[perks right the fuck back down]

Something not once again. I've been playing the demo of on . This game is so much fun. I would describe it as an Auto Battler edition of , but that really doesnt do justice to it. Haven't been this excited about a Switch game in a while.

Just curious, have you purchased anything from creators who've posted about their creations here on the ? Please boost for more visibility.

@Tim_Eagon I've bought a few small adventures I've learned about through Mastodon. But I have the feeling creators are afraid to share their new releases here as most won't even make a post that they got something cool made. It sucks that so many on the fediverse have this crappy idea that any kind of business whatsoever no matter how indie it is, is still by default bad.

players and GMs: How often have you used an epub version of a game or module? (Boost for sample size, please.)

GrumblingGM ,
@GrumblingGM@dice.camp avatar

@SymbolicCity Never. I use a PC and not an Android or iOS tablet. PDF is much easier to read than EPUB on PC in my opinion.

Assuming bad faith on Alexander's part is probably unnecessary, but this article sows enough doubt that I'll be sticking with the term Jaquaysing until someone demonstrates to me that she actually requested that he take her name out altogether: https://diyanddragons.blogspot.com/2024/01/xandering-is-slandering.html

@SymbolicCity I appreciate the update posts by both parties and I'm glad it was resolved in a manner as amicable as possible. As for myself, I'm still not going to call it xandering. I still feel the term was poorly chosen, even if not out of bad faith, and I can't think of many other circumstances either where it would be considered appropriate to name an artistic technique after an art critic.

My BiL was late sending his Christmas gifts, so I got another gift card today. Even though I’m not super interested in 5e right now, I’m thinking about getting one of Andrew Kolb’s literary-based setting books. I’m leaning towards Oz, but I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts about either it or Neverland.

Also, I’m thinking of getting a DCC module to round out my order. I’m open to suggestions!

@Tim_Eagon Got both Oz and Neverland, both are great and do justice to their source material, so I think you should go with whatever book you prefer. I prefer Neverland, but thats I am not a particular Oz fan. What I would really love is a Wonderland book in this style though.

For DCC I will back up the recommendations for Sailors of the Starless Sea. Another one I really liked is Queen of Elfland's Son.
