Punishing free speech on the whole scale!

The academics accused the university’s management of subjecting the demonstrators to “police violence”. Media reports have revealed that, a few days after this open letter, Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger’s office initiated a legal review to examine the possibility of sanctions under civil service law and criminal law against these academics, including the option to revoke funding for their studies.

    / Palestinian NGO Challenges Israel's Commitment to ICJ Ruling on Incitement

    The Center, a Palestinian rights organization, has demanded that Israeli law enforcement authorities investigate statements made by public officials that are suspected of inciting the destruction of a people, as defined under Israeli law. This request comes more than two months after the International Court of Justice () ordered Israel to take measures to prevent incitement to genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and punish those responsible.

    Adalah's request includes over 500 examples of inciting statements made by high-ranking officials, including the President, Prime Minister, ministers, Knesset members, and rabbis. The organization cites the Attorney General and State Prosecutor's previous acknowledgment that law enforcement agencies are examining several cases, and is demanding a report on the opening of investigations into these inciting statements.

    Adalah's legal director, Dr. Suhad Bishara, criticized the authorities for disproportionately focusing on suppressing the legitimate political free expression of Arab citizens, while ignoring direct calls by officials to kill uninvolved Palestinian civilians in Gaza. She suggests this systemic indifference is linked to the massive civilian casualties, including many children and women, resulting from the assault on Gaza.

    By pressuring the authorities to investigate these inciting statements, Adalah is testing Israel's commitment to the ICJ's interim ruling and its obligations under international law to prevent incitement to genocide.

    My opinion developed so far that I question the right of Israel, not only to defend itself, but to exist as state on the current territory.

    Actually they betrayed every moral support and Jews internationally, even the colonial project was unjust and manipulated from the very beginning.
    A calculation how many jails would be required to hold Israelis accountable for their atrocities would be interesting.

    People are censored, and everybody knows it, so many people don't speak up.
    Even common people execute censorship on social media, in the job or in NGOs and some get paid for it.
    It's a muddy mixture of indoctrination, bribery and misuse of power, and certainly many aspects more.

    What's the value of any agreements if they are not respected?

    Establishing the right to exist on the base of the own partially innocent children is a terrible idea. In fact even younger Israelis are so indoctrinated that they don't even understand what could be wrong with their views and actions.

    I know my mentioning of the "right to exist" is quite provocative, but it's a perspective Israelis at least should think about, and some Jews even question it by themselves.

    Well, that's the standard answer of the good guys, respecting everyone.
    Israel in contrast has proven that it doesn't handle Palestinians with any kind of humanity and the the colonialism which founded the state Israel is again and again repeated, even in areas like the West Banks which have been considered as Palestinian areas.
    Regrettable the "big brother" USA is terrible biased and one-sided and Israel's terror internationally justified.

    Some Democrats try to talk about immigration and appeal to both those who see immigration as a negative and those who see it as a positive and NOT articulate a vision for how it ought to work.

    HRW said that the decision by 18 governments to suspend funding to UNRWA comes months after Israeli authorities cut off essential services, including water and electricity to Gaza.

    Israeli forces are deliberately blocking the delivery of water, food, and fuel, willfully impeding humanitarian assistance & razing agricultural areas.

    Unless governments reverse their decisions to suspend aid to UNRWA, they risk contributing to the current catastrophe.
