Librarians are (social) heroes; stepping up when other social services have fallen away, to help those with few other places to go...

No wonder the Right wants to defund the libraries (via attrition against local authorities), when you look at the pragmatic but vital social support they are offering to the vulnerable & isolated.

@bookstodon @ChrisMayLA6 It’s the same in New Zealand. Libraries are attached to Community Centres in my City and Staff work in both. People from all walks of life come to get help with all sorts of issues. There are Classes for babies and Pre Schoolers. School Holiday Programs and more.It’s much more than just issuing books.

@Twitter_expat @GottaLaff UK Labour are too much like the USA Democrats. There is little between their policies and that of the Tory Party. Unless there is true transformative Government the fickle public will go back to what they are used to. Tory Rule. It’s the same with other Labour Parties in the Commonwealth. They have strayed from the purpose for which they were formed.

So...I have a tall cupboard.

In this cupboard, on the top shelf is a huge bag of steel-cut oatmeal.

This morning I tried to access said oatmeal.

The bag split.

Now my whole kitchen has oatmeal.

My pockets have oatmeal.

My hair has oatmeal.

My cats have oatmeal.

Everything is oatmeal...

There is no god.

@luckytran If people don’t test the GOVT can pronounce COVID is over. This seems to be a global policy now. After June we won’t be getting free test kits either.
