I like my A sheets, but no paper format is good on screen, it's a whole different medium.

@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I was so disappointed this one wasn't in OP's post, it's amazing!

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I'm picking up this book on account of that sentence alone. Thank you!

You're just hunkering down inside your bubble, while offering nothing to the conversation.

There's a BYD stand close to where I work, I was looking at a "Dolphin" that has around 500 miles of range and costs 30k€.

That's still twice as what's in the meme, but they keep getting closer.

If you have some sort of grudge against China automakers, Dacia has its Spring. It costs about what's in the meme, but with half the range though.

It's not hard to see a future where 350 miles for 15k is a reality, but the market needs competition.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds good to me. When are we starting?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Same, but Europe here. Free healthcare and mostly free education, now a decent paying job. I don't mind paying a ton of taxes, what pisses me off is that the mega wealthy don't.

The reason I'm paying so much in taxes isn't that homeless guy with mental illness that needs a meal, or that immigrant that needs healthcare because his fucking asshole boss is exploiting him and not providing proper job safety.

It pains me that so many good, decent people are falling so hard for this fascist propaganda, and don't realize they're being swindled by the mega rich that are making more money than they ever did...

I'm pretty sure I got this background image in a PowerPoint back in 97.

It's like they're completely oblivious as to why Hillary Clinton lost in the first place.

It's because THIS SHIT points around frantically ISN'T WORKING.

Seems like the current two choices in America is to either bend over and be fucked ever harder by the few who won the capitalism game, or to send it all to hell and play a different game where everyone gets fucked.

WW3 here we go.

The Mandalorian's popularity is crazy.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Assuming you voted, then you most likely did in fact vote for those things.

America has 2 parties. How does anyone expect to reflect all the different opinions of millions of people like that?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I was playing Victoria 3 the other day and I wonder what % of the world GDP the US had in its peak, compared to the British or Roman empires.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I really appreciate that you took time out of your day to answer my random musings. If someone asks if there's hope for humankind, I'll point here.

And now I'm wondering how awkward it would be if you're an AI.

Have an amazing day, friendly stranger.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Aww. Almost a fitting username.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

That's completely unrelated. Biden is the current president, and he must answer for his decisions.

If Biden is concerned he'll loose to Trump over this, THEN STOP FEEDING THE GENOCIDE. It's that simple.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

You make it sound like that's something you'd expect would happen out of his own volition?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

And that is very true.

It's that at some point someone realized they could use their momentary surplus to exploit someone else's dire need and thus use other people's labor to generate an even larger surplus for themselves.

The rationale to justify this exploitation has changed through the ages, as well as how much has to be spent to coax others - going from slavery all the way to whatever is on the other end, which I guess would be the shared ownership of the means of production.

Two men is two more than the bears that wrote in, so it's a gamble that bears are less likely to cause her harm.

Anyhow, she doesn't generalize it to all men, so my brother why are you picking up a hat that doesn't suit you? That's sort of her goal, she's being inflammatory so that the angry responses can prove her right.

If she wants to go poke at bears in a forest, then god speed and I hope she takes a rifle. I'll stay home chilling and watching netflix.

I literally spelled out the definition of troll. Was that too many words?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Care to enlighten me about the remarkable thought process that led you to this conclusion? I'm genuinely curious.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for the comment my brother, was wondering if I had written mine in some obscure language or something.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Indeed! This chart is crap. How are these values even calculated? Is this a flat tax on their networth? Nobody gets taxed like this, at least that I'm aware of - people get taxed on their profits.

I'm completely for taxing billionaires (individuals and corps) heavily on their profits, but let's use proper arguments, not intentionally misleading bullshit.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Which is basically what trump argues he is.

Old boy is about to pop open that keg and have a great time with the guys.

New dude is pondering investment plans to maximise return on investment from that treasure chest.

This is the definitive proof that money doesn't bring happiness.

I think it's from S1E7, they're about to learn this guy is small fry.

This episode also has the best star trooper dialogue ever, when they're waiting for clearance to enter the town, really funny stuff!

Oh my. How on earth could I have missed that and drawn such an incredibly incorrect conclusion.

ByteJunk ,

Sounds like a great way of making all bureaucracy grind to a halt. How does he expect this will turn out, when even those who support him on this start have to spend a full day in line to renew their driver's license or file their taxes?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Google says that “regulatory requirements” have led to this decision, presumably referring to the EU’s Digital Markets Act or other recent legislation. The precise reason isn’t mentioned by Google.

What are those clock faces doing, Google?

WHAT. ARE. THEY. DOING?!

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

What the hell is this? A corp not trying to squeeze every single penny they can get out of an IP? Damn commies hope their next game flops so bad they're back to living in their momma's basements.

/S

Fact check: Trump, telling a completely fictional story, falsely claims he released ‘the tape’ of his Zelensky call ( www.cnn.com )

Former President Donald Trump told an entirely fictional story on Saturday about how he had supposedly outwitted his Democratic opponents by releasing “the tape” of the 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that was a key factor in Trump’s first impeachment....

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I'm convinced Trump's mind doesn't work like that, and that his memories are heavily slanted by how he perceived his role in the event. Others' roles or the factual details are arranged automatically by his brain to fill this role he sees himself playing.

No one surely ever challenged him on his constant nonsense, so he's had a lifetime of reinforcement over this behaviour.

As he's aging however the detachment between his perception and recollection of an event is growing much larger, and the result is these wild made-up tales...

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Of course, it's like my f+#-: kidney stone. If it was just a bunch of chunks from the start I wouldn't have pissed blood.

You're a special kind of person, aren't you?

This far down, and you keep demanding that someone answers you about why "they" are liberals, behaving as if the universe owes you answers.

Sympathetic with your deluded but apparently honest ignorance, @RememberTheApollo_ did their best by sharing an anecdote that demonstrates that, while possible that "they" are liberals because the issues directly impacting "them", that may not necessarily be the case.

Alas, it was then that we came to find that you just wanted to hear yourself talk while petulantly dismissing others' thoughts.

The story developed unexpectedly however, as this behaviour was accurately and immediately pointed out, and this led to a series of increasingly irate comments, likely caused by a mounting sense of frustration stemming from the inability to rebuff such accurate criticism. We're sure to see an escalation from the passive aggression initially being employed into more open and direct insults, as a welling sense of dread about being outwitted threatens to set in.

Stay tuned!

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Ehehehehhehehhe!!! Thanks for the entertainment!

By now it's clear that it's your reading comprehension that is lacking, you aren't fully understanding the responses you're getting. Perhaps you're not a native speaker...

ByteJunk ,

Brother, this law is just deranged. Trapping people in a marriage is not OK.

Divorce includes agreements over custody, why not consider an expected child into that as well?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

Paternity tests can be done during pregnancy...

I don't think the barycentre is inside the sun? Wikipedia says on the barycentre article:

When the less massive object is far away, the barycenter can be located outside the more massive object. This is the case for Jupiter and the Sun; despite the Sun being a thousandfold more massive than Jupiter, their barycenter is slightly outside the Sun due to the relatively large distance between them.[2]

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

How does that make any sense??

If you want to make a car analogy, it would be like charging with murder some guy that sells cars that everyone knows are stolen, but then he strips down all the parts he can get away with without the client noticing, knowing full well that whoever buys that shit is going to slam into a fucking wall because it ain't even got brakes.

Yeah, charge that fucker with murder.

By the replies, I almost assumed this was 4-chan. It's either some bold bravado, or generic out of touch shaming people foe allowing kernel level access.

There are interesting conversations to be had around this topic. For example, Riot in the article rises the following points, can we address those?

Cheat software developers are already releasing cheats that operate at this level. If Riot wants to combat them, it has to do so at the kernel level.

Lots of other companies are already using similar software to prevent cheating.

"This isn’t giving us any surveillance capability we didn’t already have." Claiming that if they wanted to steal data, their example being a secret recipe, then they could already do so in user mode.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

You could drop the flamebait, but all good.

Not only kernel mode “anticheat” will allow snooping on the current account, but on others too, that’s the key difference here.

Can't this already be achieved by elevation? Why would a kernel driver be necessary?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

and what is their endgame? “Developers are releasing cheats that emualate a mouse. Therefore Riot needs to use a camera to record your hand”?

You mean a device that physically operates the mouse? I don't know, I don't work for riot, but this is done in online chess - to participate in some tournaments with money prizes you need 2 webcams.

If everybody is jumping off a roof, so should Riot?

No, the question is if this discussion also cover all other anticheats that use kernel mode, or is here anything that is League-specific?

Isn’t the whole point of anti-cheat to survey the computer? If you aren’t getting anything new, then why even use a kernel-level anticheat?

This is just splitting hairs on semantics, isn't it? From the moment the app is running in user space, it could collect a huge amount of user info, but it can't look for kernel-level cheat software.

Note that I don't play league, I could care less about the game or the developer, I'm just interested in the privacy vs cheating aspect of the conversation.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

The kernel-level cheats would fall into this category I guess, but cheaters will still be running them. Could anything without the same level access identify them?

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

I could point out the ad hominem, but even worse, emojis?! You have zero credibility, scram.

ByteJunk ,
@ByteJunk@lemmy.world avatar

You can joke about anything, I'm a fan of dark humour. But these aren't even jokes, they're just spiteful remarks about 2 dead guys.
