Cleaned up the Micro-Term ACT-1 serial terminal tonight and made the modification that allows it to transmit lowercase characters (although it still displays everything in UPPERCASE).
Back in 1977, you couldn't necessarily count on standardized connectors. Video output uses a PL-259 connector and RS-232 is via a pair of 1/4" phono plugs.
I already had one of these monitors but couldn't pass up its twin when it appeared on FB Marketplace last night. These are perfect for old Apple ] and TV Typewriter-style systems.
I left the CBM 8032 running for a few minutes and the screen started getting wavy. I took a quick video showing it. A few seconds after I stopped recording, the screen went dark and there was an odor of smoke. Something in the CRT section went kablooie. I switched out off and when I tried turning it back on, there was an unpleasant sound coming from the CRT. It'll have to go on the real workbench for some proper investigation and, hopefully, repair.
I think I'm ready to move the drives to my real server. Hopefully I've got enough copied that I'll only be offline for a few hours. Level 29 BBS will be down too.
