For the : the famous Castellum divisorium of Nîmes. This water tank was the end of the aqueduct that carried water to the Roman colony of Nemausus, via the Pont du Gard. After travelling 50 km, the water was distributed by ten lead pipes to various parts of the city. 📸 me

The structure comprises a circular pool measuring almost 6 m in diameter, which was originally covered, and 10 openings measuring 40 cm in diameter.

🪔 For : a roman bridge across the River Touloubre in Saint-Chamas, southern France Built in the 1st c. AD, it is called “Flavian” after its builder - Claudius Domitius Flavius. It is the only surviving example of a Roman bridge bounded by triumphal arches from the Augustan period.📸 me

    🪔 For : relief from . Dated to the 2nd c AD, this relief depicts Apollo as God of healing springs. Apollo holds a jug from which water flows as a symbol of worship at healing springs. The tripod with a cauldron identifies him as the god of the oracle of Delphi. Stove and arrows indicate that a god of healing can also punish and kill. 📸 me

    🪔 For the : the Arch of Cavaillon, in Southern France. The Arch is actually the remains of an unidentified Roman building dating from the 1st century AD. In the Middle Ages, it was part of the bishop's palace. The palace was sold in 1793 and destroyed but the the arch was dismantled and transported to the town's main square, where it stands now.

    🪔 in AD 225 Gordian III was born. At the age of 13 he became the youngest emperor of the united Roman Empire – Praetorians elected him, killing two elderly Senate nominees Pupienus and Balbinus. Gordian was murdered by his troops in AD 244.

    🪔 in AD 350 Magnentius was proclaimed Augustus at the banquet in Augustodunum – modern Autun, France. I have visited Autun this summer and I’m sharing a few pictures with most emblematic sites of this ancient city: its Porte Saint André, Janus Temple, Pyramide de Couhard & Theater. 📸 Own pics.
