Back to poor numbers last night but some infrequent visitors were welcome

  1. a blousy SCARLET TIGER, flashing a bit of underskirt

  2. a handsome BUFF ERMINE

  3. a white-peppery SINGLE DOTTED WAVE

Overhead shot of a chunky arrowhead shaped moth. It is a handsome looking moth, buff, almost bordering on creamy-lemon yellow. It has a furry head of the same colour. Its creamy-lemon wings are peppered with about 10-12 tiny black dots. It has black, almost spider-like legs and tow black antennae
A small flat moth on concrete. More butterfly shaped with wing span wider than length of abdomen when laying flat. It is largely white pepper colour, sandy with darker speckles. On each wing there are two irregularly shaped, small, black splodges. It's lower wing edges are lined with a series of regularly spaced black dots

Overhead shot of a medium sized triangular moth, quite butterfly like. It is very flashy and blousy, largely black with random blotches of cream and white. It's forewings are slightly open revealing a red underwing, which resemble a pair of thin red curtains underneath a set of black blotchy curtains. On the red underwing there are two patches of inky navy biue.,

    Part 2:

    Fuzzy faces:

    Another ELEPHANT HAWK-MOTH came to visit, as did a mint FIGURE OF EIGHTY - a remarkably marked moth.

    As as well as the conventional shots, I wanted to show you their cute fuzzy faces. The EHM in particular has the most elegant colouring and shape from above, yet the goofiest of cross-eyed faces. 😅 Adorable.

    Front on shot of elephant hawk moth. Two think feathered antennae extend left and right from a bright olive green head. It has two close set, bright green eyes, fuchsia pink cheeks and fuchsia pink palps which fade to a light yellow and almost resemble goofy teeth. Four legs grip a finger. The close set eyes and palps give it an appearance of being cross-eyed.
    Overhead shot of triangular moth, largely buff brown with a band edged in black stretching from wing edge to wing edge. In the band, at each wing edge is a stigmata in white which very clearly resembles the number 80.
    Face on shot of Figure of Eighty moth. Two thick antennae extend from a grey-brown furry head. Two close set black eyes are either side of a set of palps that start grey-brown but fade to off white at the end. It's underneath is furry white-grey. Stripey legs grip an eggbox

    Overhead shot of a large aeroplane shaped moth on fingers. It is olive green with flashes of fuchsia pink. A pink stripe extends down the centre of a thick bright olive green abdomen. It's head has two pink central stripes and a pink arc on each temple. Three pink bands feature on the wings. At the top a short darker pink that extends only halfway from the centre towards the outer. Two bands start in the wing corners, one stretching across the bottom wing edge, the other rising at a shallow diagonal to the centre. The moth is flashing a a bit of bright pink underwing.
