This story is why #monsterdon is sorta fractured for me. I can’t follow taweret and see the official toots. I can’t vote in the official polls because octodon blocked infosec exchange in this frenzy. It’s why I often copy/paste the monsterdon alert for folks who might be here or on similar servers and be blocked.
Huh! That was fun! Lots of things I didn't see coming this time!
Like:
Baddies understand the importance of PPE; good guys, less so
Sure, there was lots of sexism, but also, lots of "Penny, you just have to be understanding of Daddy's relationship w/ his 'partner', and not ask so many questions"
Don't recall any coffee in this one, but wow, was there some tobacco!
Thanks everyone for joining in! Thanks @Taweret for hosting! See y'all next week!
Graphic designer Saul Bass directed exactly one film, an extremely trippy adaptation of HG Wells' "Empire of the Ants" called PHASE IV.
As far as I can tell the ants do not become large, so the film may not qualify for #Monsterdon, but it does sound real fucked up. It's on Criterion til June 30, dunno about other sites.
Arthropods can get humongous. The main reason they don't is they are far too tempting targets for warm-blooded vertebrates.
But about that? Why couldn't an arthropod also be warm-blooded? Maybe some were.
And that thing you heard about "giant insects needed higher O2 levels" also questionable. Arthroplura was still around after the levels crashed... something else ended the golden age.
awww baby found his flamethrower!! moral of the story is you can do anything you set your mind to if you just believe in yourself and you're the child of a large fire breathing monster
godzilla usually like meditates on the bottom of the ocean right, so it's primarily an aquatic reptile, but it seems to come to the surface to reproduce by fucking the red lake in some way, truly a marvel of evolution #monsterdon
me breaking out a fucking abacus and drafting pad to try and figure out how to fit the ecological metaphor of godzilla into whatever the fuck is going on here #monsterdon
