What's the damn point of in when everything you send to a list still shows up in Home?

If I add something to a list, I do not want to see it until I click so see the list.

Home should be everyone I follow EXCEPT those I have assigned to a list.

did lists much MUCH better.

TIL that Mastodon has a setting for lists that hides that list's posts from your Home feed.

If you're following some particularly noisy users you can add them to a list and then hide them from your Home feed and just check the list when you run out of other stuff to read!

Do you have a question that you would like help with from random people?

Or are you someone that likes to help random people with random questions?

...then you should use this hashtag:

➡️

This tag is for any question at all, it's sort of like a "bat signal" for questions on the Fediverse.

If you're asking a question include it in a public post, like you would with any hashtag.

If you like to help out, search or follow this hashtag.

@FediTips I have a very basic question. How do I attach items to Lists on Mastodon.social?

Name me a Mastodon app for Android that has something like "For you" timeline where it generates what posts show to you so you wouldn't miss them.

I follow 612 people and trust me, I got the most hugest, gigantic, biggest, largest amount of posts and even using Lists feature doesn't help!

I do not want to miss important stuff. I'm currently still settuping my lists but seriously, wish that was easier...

I spotted a post from @FediTips about using lists. I gave it a shot a long while ago, but thought about it again. Is there any way on to prevent any followed account on a list from being displayed on Home, or is that purely a web-interface setting with like I suspect it might be? I haven’t had a chance to dig into the web settings yet. Figured I’d openly ask the air.

Is your main timeline getting a bit too busy? Does it feel like you're following too many people? You can split your main timeline into smaller mini-timelines using Mastodon's Lists feature:

It's slightly fiddly to set up, but once you get started Lists can be extremely useful.

You can optionally hide any List's accounts from your main timeline, to make it a bit calmer.

Most common questions about Lists are answered at the link above!

Mastodon User Tip

Make use of #Lists, and when you follow someone make a habit of adding them to a list right then.

It's quick and easy:

  • Set up at least three or four lists. You can number them to arrange the list display order.
  • After you hit FOLLOW, click the three vertical dots and choose "Add or Remove from lists". This will bring up your lists and you can click to add the follow to one or more lists.

They will make your #Fediverse life so much better.
