@deinol Blatantly ripped off from "The Legacy of Heorot": you kill the one big predator that's been menacing you, suddenly you've opened up its territory to dozens of rivals.
@deinol The rare plants are going extinct due to adventurers collecting them and killing the xeno-gators which the plants depend on for part of their life cycle. Local civic leaders and scientists from the University ask your party to help defend the last known refuge from being destroyed. Should they succeed they get moral satisfaction and the acclaim of the locals but no plants.
Made a starship encounter chart for while my group is participating in The Great Hunt in Vargr territory. It’s allied with the nearby Zhodani Consolate, so I wanted ships from there to be more common than other humans.
Been coming up with Vargr NPC names. Since they are self titled, I drew 2 Short Order Heroes cards for each.
So the expedition leader, who is world-weary and heartless is “Cold Cassowary”. The doctor who is doomed and exclusive is “White Crow”. The actor who is interdimensional and telepathic is “Bright Corona”.
I have two left a civic leader who is demanding and punctual, and a research scientist who is wholesome and “flying?”.
In converting a human-centric Grand Safari into a Vargr based Grand Hunt, I need a riding beast for them to use. What do you think they should have? Boars? Lizards? Insects? Something totally alien?
My group meets Sunday and I don’t really have anything planned yet. They are heading to Okhokferr from Nepenthe and could go to some combination of Duì, Zhèn, Qián, or Pequod along the way.
Once they deliver their shipment they have some Vargr friends, and there is a Zhodani embassy on Okhokferr that could make things interesting.
@deinol I feel like a place called DUI kind of writes its own encounter; a roadside sobriety test administered by a centaur of some kind could be just the picaresque touch this party needs
Looking for Vargr character art for my game, and even adding -AI to my searches and the results are half generated images. How long before it’s nearly impossible to find art from a real artist?
My group did “training week” for the Vargr Great Hunt. They were tested on marksmanship, archery, climbing, riding, stealth, and camp setup. Perfect score would be 90.
The PCs did not do very well, Captain Feyne Vyren got the lowest rating, Evicru Nur is middle of the pack.
They are being split into four teams for the next event, an Arctic Gazelle capture.
