HULVER-HEADED. Having a hard impenetrable head; hulver, in the Norfolk dialect, signifying holly, a hard and solid wood.

A lot of people misunderstand the relationship between the USA and Israel. Israel is the USA's fixer in the region, taking care of the dirty work that would be unpalatable to the American voters.

What is Fascism and Where does it Come From?

Fascism prospered from a paralysis of the state’s capacity for dispatching its key organizing functions, whether in the economy or for the larger tasks of keeping cohesion in society. At the worst points of the crisis, that paralysis encompassed the entire institutional machinery of politics, including the parliamentary and party-political frameworks of representation.

Even if Trump loses in November, even if he dies in prison, today's ruling on presidential immunity is a set-piece for absolute tyranny.

As soon as the GOP returns to power, America will devolve into a pure fascist state. They've laid that out, and now their court has granted them that power.

Far-right extremists broke the highest court in the land -- a fascist's hand-picked judges keep ruling in his favor. They don't care about

The arbiter of the Constitution is illegitimate.

If you zoom out the lens far enough. Kennedy brothers were the Gracchi of the Republic.

When people talk about “Western values”, it’s a shibboleth.

It’s a way to talk about a European construct that rediscovered , , and of ancient societies of Rome and Greece.

But, they can’t say that, because they want to project an image of rugged, militarized Sparta without acknowledging what helot life was like.

They want to ignore that Julius Caesar was a dictator who ended the Republic.

We're still not quite ready for a more strenuous hike, so opted for a long but steady waltz around beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale.

Which is impossibly pretty in the summer. 🤩

This image depicts a charming street scene in the quaint town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria. The narrow road winds through a row of traditional stone cottages with white-framed windows and colourful flower boxes. A Union Jack flag hangs from one of the buildings, and a 'For Sale' sign is visible. The street is lined with old-fashioned lamp posts and leads to a gentle curve in the distance. Lush green hills can be seen on the horizon, whilst the sky above is a mix of blue and grey clouds. The scene exudes a quintessential English village atmosphere, with its well-preserved architecture and picturesque countryside backdrop.
A rustic, characterful building in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria. The structure is a centuries-old half-timbered house with exposed wooden beams and infill panels in various states of repair. Its weathered facade combines stone, brick, and plaster, creating a patchwork of textures and colours. Ivy and other climbing plants adorn parts of the building, adding to its picturesque charm. In the foreground, a narrow footpath lined with lush vegetation leads past the house, where colourful potted plants and garden furniture suggest a lived-in, homely atmosphere. The background reveals glimpses of other stone cottages and rolling countryside, all set against a dramatic sky with billowing clouds, capturing the essence of this quaint English market town.
A picturesque scene in Kirkby Lonsdale, showcasing a grand stone building with large, multi-paned windows and a beautifully manicured garden. The foreground features a cobbled lane bordered by a low stone wall, leading the eye to a smaller stone outbuilding in the distance. The main building's façade is adorned with climbing plants and flowers, while its front garden bursts with colourful blooms and well-tended lawns. Beyond the buildings, the verdant Cumbrian countryside unfolds, with rolling hills and patches of woodland stretching to the horizon under a dramatic, cloud-dappled sky. This view epitomises the charm of rural English architecture nestled within the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales.

This is a headline from 10 years ago.

“UN condemns Israeli attack on sleeping children”.

Ten years ago, Israel slaughtered over 2,200 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 500 children.
