"Focusing on classical philologists and biblical scholars in nineteenth-century Germany, it examines how Hyperkritik developed from a technical philological term into a pejorative label that was widely invoked to discredit the latest trends in classical philology and, especially, biblical scholarship."

I'm going to start writing all my posts on old English, and daring people to correct my grammar and spelling.

@trechnex It's not quite that bad. While we don't know the precise lilt and intonation, we're confident about the phonemes associated with Old English spelling:

    1. It uses the Latin alphabet (aside from a couple of rune symbols).
    2. We can look at how foreign loanwords were transliterated into OE.
    3. We can compare the phonological development of OE with that of other germanic languages.
    4. We can look at how sounds developed in modern English.

"Most of the papers in this volume originated as presentations at the conference Biblical Hebrew and Rabbinic Hebrew: New Perspectives in Philology and Linguistics, which was held at the University of Cambridge, 8–10th July, 2019. The aim of the conference was to build bridges between various strands of research in the field of Hebrew language studies that rarely meet, namely philologists working on Biblical Hebrew, philologists working on Rabbinic Hebrew and theoretical linguists."
