Tried to upgrade my instance to the latest glitch-soc again... Trashed it, again....
Restoring from an older backup and picking the version to upgrade to.. Oddly, the doggone thing doesn't seem to want to cleanly upgrade... This time Sidekiq kept running, but the site didn't...
#mastodon#glitchsoc The default maximum, but non-indefinite mute time in the popup list is 7 days. Is it possible to add other values? I have not found anything in an administration interface. Is there a way to modify some config file?
I would appreciate 2 weeks and 1 month to be selectable as well.
A person wishes not to see any politics in their feed, and kindly asked me to put content warnings on politics.
I replied that this would be counterproductive to my very reason for being on Mastodon, so they blocked me.
I respect their decision, but would it not be better if the person could choose not to see boosts of my posts without blocking me and ending all dialogue?
Update: This IS possible via the web interface. Awesome!
well there are instances that allow more, I have heard that there are "default" #Mastodon instances with up to 4000 or at least some the #glitchsoc for instance(such as the one I am writing from) allowing up to 5k characters per post.Since you are a commentator it might be worth looking for an instance with a few more characters.(Some apps also split up your post into multiple ones if you exceed the limit)
A lot of people have talked about the possibility of forking Mastodon to get the many improvements their communities need. Making such an effort successful is another discussion entirely.
@deadsuperhero There are several forks of Mastodon that have been around for years and work well (not only #Hometown) like #Ecko, #Glitchsoc, etc. for years.
They have many more functions such as editable character limit,
editable poll options, local posts, changeable favicon, markdown formatting - and if that's not enough, there is plenty of other software in the Fediverse for micro- and macroblogging
