I’m most of the way through Midnight Tides, but I have two lingering questions from House of Chains.

First, does the random Forkrul Assail that Karsa Orlong freed ever show up again?

Second, who is the random (immortal?) guy in a tower Karsa Orlong met and does he become important?

There are sometimes threads in this epic that are abandoned, and other times ones that are long dormant.

@deinol First question, assume yes. Tha assail become integral to the end game.

Second, is this they guy making bone statues? I don't recall seeing him again tbh.

Many of the threads you speak of are picked up by ICE in his Novels of the Malazan Empire (NotMe, lol)

@Mayor_of_Smartarse

I don’t remember bone statues, he was putting a roof on his tower or something. He manages to knock out Karsa in a single punch.

Someone else let me know he’s important in Return of the Crimson Guard (which is on my list to read between Reaper’s Gale and Toll the Hounds).

I assume he’s a Crimson Guard that’s hanging out “retired” for now.

@deinol That's both a strength and a weakness of the series. It's really hard to pick the books up again if you ever stopped for a time (still haven't progressed from Midnight Tides). It does make the world more alive though.

    @deinol Honestly, that might not be the worst way of going about it. Not sure if I'll ever continue without re-reading the whole series. Some things are just too dense to skip off in the middle.

    @deinol for Forkrul yes, in late books.
    As for guy in tower you mean the one who knocked out Karsa with a single blow?

    @deinol well, you wont meet him anymore in original Malazan books.
    He is important guy in Ian C. Esslemont novels. So it would be a spoiler if I tell you who he is.
