  1. do not self-deprecate

  2. be proud of what you've made

  3. giving others a small compliment, even a thumbs up emoji, goes a long way

  5. do not offer advice or suggestions for improvement unprompted

  1. do not paint when you don't feel like it. That's work, not hobby

  2. don't compare your work to others' work. Compare it to your own earlier work

  3. take pictures of wash, paint, ink, glue etc spills

  4. don't drink paint water of too high toxicity

  5. don't clean brushes in beverages too often

I started this thing with a Discord server reply when some people were talking about their painting habits. It's a lot more entertaining but not necessarily more legible. The latter is why I cut off a lot of the fat in the above.

***The ten commandments of Miniature Painting are*** 1) thou shalt always strive to not self-deprecate 2) thou shalt be proud of thine Good Works, for they are truly Good Works 3) thou shalt bestow on the work of others, regardless of skill level: compliments or emoji such as heart (any colour), heart-eyes, mind-blown, thumb-up, muscle-arm (normal or prosthetic) or other affirmation 4) if thou canst not follow Commandment 3, thou shalt shutst the fucketh up *we meaneth iteth* 5) thou shalt not offer advice or suggestions for improvement unprompted 6) thou shalt not painteth when thou dothst not feeleth like it. Thou hast a job, school, or chores for that 7) thou shalt not compare thine work with that of thine neighbour before thou comparest thine work to thine past work 8) thou shalt take pictures of wash, paint or glue spills before cleaning it up 9) thou shalt better not drink paint water unless thou knowest the toxicity level is okay 10) thou shalt not make too much of a habit of cleaning thine brush in thine tea, coffee or other beverages
