There was an apparent Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy compound in Syria a few hours ago which killed a senior military officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps & his deputy, along with other Iranians.
Iran's foreign minister says they consider the Israeli airstrike to violate all diplomatic norms and international treaties, and Tehran holds Israel responsible for the consequences of the attack. And Iran's Ambassador to Syria says the Iranian response will be "harsh."
So much for regional containment. Iran is right. Rational state actors don't bomb embassies.
