If it's an author's job to tell the truth with lies, then no-one did it better. To my mind he had the deep and clear eyed understanding of humanity, that so often comes from the outsider looking in and seeing both the absurdity and reckless selfishness and greed and yet also the grace and kindness and above all humour, that is so often contained within.
He is gone, but never to be forgotten as long as we speak his name.
