Speaking of trauma…

My brother attended Mormon church for the first time in years yesterday. His son is leaving on a two year mission.

He messaged me from inside and was surprised how many negative feelings came back just from being in the building. Anyone that grew up in a high demand religion knows that indoctrination does not go away. You can learn how to cope with it but it will always be there.

@dillyd my oldest is next. She’s leaving on a mission next month. By the time I left the church she had already spent most of her childhood in it.

@dillyd that’s all I can hope for. After the divorce I told all of my kids that I will never push them one way or the other. If they want to stay or leave the church it’s all their choice. And that they can ask me anything they want.
