It's a little thing but... if you don't listen to the words he is saying Trump sounds like a children's television host. He has this sort of babying soothing fake-hearty quality. Anyone else notice this?
@futurebird I've heard thankfully little, but I agree with you. His tone is sort of reassuring, like, "what I'm saying is obvious, it's okay to admit it and agree with me."
@futurebird@mattsheffield I think there must have been some executive seminar in the 80s about how to hypnotize your audience into buying lousy timeshares and the upshot was "baby talk 'em". That's my hypothesis
@futurebird@catmisgivings It’s essentially a televangelist shtick. It’s extremely effective on a few people and then he gets support from others who don’t know much about Biden and think he is a Marxist.
@libramoon@futurebird@catmisgivings Definitely. But it is incredible how many even highly educated Republicans really believe that Biden is a woke communist socialist.
Here's one of hundreds of possible examples, a column claiming Biden is implementing "concentrated Marxism:"
@futurebird@catmisgivings@mattsheffield When he was running for prez the first time, I was wholly baffled that people were appreciating the emperor's clothes, instead of acknowledging the reality that the dude was parading around nude.
He's still completely nude, and I'm still completely baffled.
He's always very careful not to make anyone listening to him feel stupid for not knowing what a word he's using might mean. And he repeats words in a way that's probably helpful if you can't hear well.
And really most politicians ought to do this. Or be able to do it often enough that people don't feel left out.
