On this date in 1943 (Feb. 22nd), Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans Scholl, and their friend Christoph Probst were executed by beheading in the Stadelheim Prison, in Munich, Germany. They had been caught distributing anti-Nazi leaflets on the campus of the University of Munich. They were found guilty of high treason and executed immediately. Sophie was 21. Hans was 24. Christoph was 23.
