With VERY rare exceptions, an appellate lawyer can only obtain reversal on errors that were preserved properly, through timely contemporaneous objection raising the same argument being raised on appeal.

No matter how much you pay an appellate lawyer, if your trial lawyer didn’t preserve errors properly, you’re almost always screwed.
