Ticker Shows Climate Inaction Cost US Nearly $3,000 Per Second in 2023

"The 28 disasters that caused at least $1 billion in damage collectively cost Americans at least $92.9 billion, or $2,945.84 per second."

That's ONLY the billion-dollar disasters.

Also, under a Trump47 this figure will go a lot higher.

Not measured in dollars:

Disasters Forced 2.5 Million Americans From Their Homes Last Year

"Many of those also reported food shortages and predatory scams, according to new data from the Census Bureau.

The displacement data were gathered in the bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, which aims to measure how emerging social and economic challenges are affecting Americans. The survey added questions about disasters in December 2022."

@CelloMomOnCars

Looks like the New York Times was too timid to use the word "climate" here.

Yeah.
What IS wrong with them.

NYT is the only one covering this and this piece is not paywalled, but yes, usually I avoid them.
