@futurebird Swales, AKA contour infiltration channels work great in many landscapes under many conditions AND they are NOT universally applicable. They can be overused, especially on steeper slopes that might have a tendency to slump and crush houses. They are NOT to be used casually or without serious investigation into soils, subsoils, and etc.
