15 February 1913 | A Dutch Jewish woman, Esther Zwaap-Philipse, was born in Rotterdam.

She was incarcerated in Theresienstadt ghetto in September 1944 and from there, on 6 October 1944, deported to Auschwitz. She did not survive.

"Esther Philipse was a celebrated singer and cabaret artiste. At Camp Westerbork she was part of the Gruppe Bühne, an ensemble of Dutch and German Jewish performers who tried to support and reassure the residents of the transit camp with humorous shows."
