@Teri_Kanefield
This question, honest as it is, still gives me a "Well, duhhh" reflex. You nailed it.
The WH not censoring the stupid parts is the only way to be the honest, competent adults in the room. That's essential.
Censoring anything, even the manifestly nasty and dumb hit-piece parts, would provide more and better ammunition for criticism than releasing the whole report could possibly do. (Sorta like you cannot defeat authoritarianism with the tools of authoritarians...)
@Teri_Kanefield Sigh. I'm inundated day in and day out by people blaming Garland for that. (and everything) People's frustrations are overtaking their rational thinking. It's like screaming about the pace of the trials, wanting instant results. Some things are not black and white. @n1xnx
Deleting and starting over with a more coherent response.
The reason people's "frustrations are overtaking their rational thinking" is because they are in a partisan echo chamber being pummeled by rage-inducing simplifications.
The only solution is for people to get out.
Most people are not mired in this. They are busy with their lives.
@GottaLaff
It seems to be disconnect between groups with two differing views of our situation.
“group 1” is confident that the institutions of government (including the vote) are capable of -or necessary for- surviving another Trump presidency.
“group 2” believes that time is running out, and that once Trump or someone similar takes power, there will be a human rights crisis on an unprecedented scale.
group 2 sees group 1 as “fiddling while Rome burns.”
group 1 sees group 2 as “chicken little yelling that the ‘sky is falling.’”
A dialogue between these groups would be interesting, but the potshots and snark typical of social media conversation “ain’t it.”
@Teri_Kanefield
Sadly true.
I'm going to stay out of this issue for now. Becoming furious, and engaging with furious people who aren't thinking straight, both seem like wasted effort.
Instead of attacking Hur as a partisan hack who has no qualification for assessing a person's memory, Democrats start attacking the DOJ for not appointing someone loyal to Biden.
See how that looks?
The 10% of highly engaged partisans on Twitter and MSNBC will cheer.
But the vast majority of Americans will feel disgusted and they won't be able to tell the difference between a Trump DOJ and a Biden DOJ.
