I have been playing Fallout 4 because I discovered that mods are a thing and that is such an odd game. Even with mods and with your attention diverted to stuff unrelated to the plot, it still feels half finished.
The big difference between modern Bethesda and Morrowind-era stuff is how much less written content there is and you think oh sure... They were concentrating on tech so less time for writing but then gge tech feels half-finished too.
I find the existence of mods to be profoundly weird because while some of it is additional content, a lot if it is just fixing stuff that should never have made it out the door.
@Taskerland My favorite mod by far is of the added-material kind, Heather Casdin. Does an impressive job of approaching the gameworld with sincerity, and it's also just an impressive amount of craft for one hobbyist to do all that voice work and integration.
