Last night, I watched the 1996 TV movie-of-the-week remake of 1971's Dodge Challenger porn ”Vanishing Point”.

The trick to making a TV movie remake of a classic is to take the original, strip out most things of value, add what spectacle you can for your budget, and cap it off with a few solid cameos from B-tier "oh my go it's THAT guy!" folks.

And this director understood the assignment.

or something, I guess.

Several iconic shots in the movie were actually shot in Monument Valley, including a chase between some local cops and Mortensen’s Challenger. Some serious Death Proof / Grindhouse vibes here.
Viggo Mortensen, blood on his hands, grips the wheel of his car and looks real serious as he prepares to make a choice.
If the film does anything well, it’s the brief little car chase through the Aircraft Boneyard. Fun and memorable.
