I never understood why election days in the US are on a Tuesday and why voting places are so far and between. Until I realised it’s because this prevents poor people from voting (because they have to take the day off, don’t have a car to drive there etc). Given that, percentage wise, more black people are poor compared to whites, this has the added "benefit" of making it harder for black people to vote. The US democracy, working as intended after almost 250 years!
