listening to pod save is a fascinating view into the utter cluelessness of the democratic party

the most recent ep on young voters has some real gems:

"it's not that our policies are bad, we just need to communicate them better. after all biden is the most progressive president ever" (said unironically)

"kids are definitely motivated by gaza, but biden and kamala called for a ceasefire" (does not mention anything else)

"being a human now is better than being a human 200 years ago, why are young people so grumpy? the media is to blame"

"four years ago people voted based on climate change, gun control, student loan forgiveness, all these things have been delivered on" (no, seriously they claim that)

it's so hard to know if pundits like pod save etc. honestly believe these things or they're cynically saying them

is it purely to try to reassure boomers who don't understand the kids?

@ben I get the sense they truly believe it.

@ben It sounds like the DNC instance on the Fedi. Just regurgitate the party line and the youths will believe it!

Gun control wasn't really delivered, agreed.

The US is doing a LOT better on climate change causes, and tens of millions have gotten student debt relief, so... why do people believe nothing was accomplished there?

Media almost never reports on successes.

@StompyRobot Better than nothing is pretty unimpressive, and the difference between +3C and +5C is kind of moot.

As far as I've heard the number of people who have had their debt relieved is in the hundreds of thousands, not tens of millions. Didn't they only cancel debt of very specific types of loan that were given by the govt?

@ben
Some of the relief is partial.

The US really has made great progress on its neutrality goals.
But as you say, even when the US hits 100%, that doesn't solve the world problem.

I think perhaps people expect more than what's achievable. And in the end, Congress has more power than the presidency.
