@GottaLaff

I'm wondering if the people worried about Joe Biden's age want the 15 members of Congress ... you know, the ones who really guide the country ... who are aged 76 and above to resign also?

Do they really want a bunch of inexperienced novices running the country?

@Atticus1956 @GottaLaff Would we like Bernie Sanders to train up a successor? Yes. Would we have liked DiFi and RBG to not die in office? Yes. None of this is to say Biden should step back—that would be a dumb move. But that doesn’t mean that we need people in their 70s running the government. That’s a very conservative viewpoint—we need to keep them around because they know how to keep doing what we’ve always done and the kids would wreck everything, basically.

@abhayakara I think what @Atticus1956 is saying is, “hypocrisy.” Not that they should be fired.

@GottaLaff @Atticus1956 I don’t understand why people still talk about hypocrisy as if that’s a useful criticism, though. Hypocrisy is endemic at this point. It’s like air. It’s not at all remarkable, and pointing it out doesn’t motivate anyone who isn’t already motivated.

I guess I get that sometimes you need to yell into the abyss, but I always feel like we have better things to talk about, so unfortunately I can’t resist being the reply guy in such cases. :]

@abhayakara @Atticus1956 Not thrilled with Reply Guy rationale, but okay.

Atticus made a valid point, whether you’re tired of hypocrisy talk or not. And hypocrisy may be rampant and used openly and proudly by the fascists, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t point it out.

@GottaLaff @Atticus1956 FWIW I think it’s worth considering why these hypocritical observations about Biden are effective, though. I think there really is a sense in the electorate that the gerontocracy is a bad thing. The idea that we can criticize Biden and not Trump for being old is ridiculous, but we really do need more young progressives in government, and it’s wrong to say that they can’t govern. Katie Porter, anyone?

@GottaLaff @abhayakara

I attempted, obviously in vain, to point out the abject stupidity & hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle regarding POTUS Biden.
