@stefan the last comment on that issue is a commit. "Remove first @ in mastodon @name account". Which leads me to believe this is the other way around? It was introduced with @username but is now username@domain ???🤔

This person is following the format used in the original announcement, not the blog.

I do wonder if this makes a difference, maybe both formats work?

@stefan I think they are trying to make it so that it could work for email as well. I read something about that the other day when it was announced but I'm sure I cannot find it now. It was a small thing.
