“Rugged individualism” got you here. How about trying to come together in a GIANT COALITION. DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOUR OPPRESSORS WANT.

Knowing the nature of the enemy is essential to a strategy of opposition.

Problem: Fossil fuel profits fund anti-democracy movements

Solution: Accelerate the transition to energy independence with solar & wind.

Arrange for boycotts of ExxonMobil, Chevron, etc.

Problem: the Supreme Court is corrupt.
Solution: Win in November. Expand the Court. Make sure the Senate goes to the Democrats.

Problem: Tax evasion by the rich.
Solution: Fund the IRS.

Go for their money.

@Npars01 Make it so. Focus on one thing and do it.

@StillIRise1963 @Npars01

I do focus on one thing:

Having Democratic Party Voters leave their Red States and move to one of the 3-4 Swing States that will decide this election.

But it seems like most of the candidates for this strategy think Trump won't be so bad.

@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@BlueWall @StillIRise1963

Having Democrat voters infiltrate swing states is a very good strategy.

Buy an inexpensive RV, park, register to vote, and vanlife it until November.

The Supreme Court has not gotten around to outlawing the nomad lifestyle yet, as they have the unhoused.

Voter suppression laws come in many guises.

Forcing the unhoused out of areas where they might tip the scales of close-run elections is one.

If Mark Meadows can register to vote from an abandoned...

If this strategy ever took hold the laws would quickly flood Republican statehouses: both source Republican States, preventing people from leaving, and recipient Republican States who would increase their registration periods.

Ohio already has a very vague and unconstitutional law about "people moving for political purposes."

Also, Scott Presler the (gay, amazingly) right wing agitator is trying to start the same process for conservatives.

Yes it would be powerful.

@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@BlueWall @StillIRise1963

In another strategy, rent a large house in a swing state.

Have a hundred people use the address to register to vote.

Claim that it's a shared home used for itinerant salespeople for a door-to-door high speed internet upgrade or some other pretense.

Or use it for legitimate grassroots get-out-the-vote programs. The people are genuinely living there and genuinely working there.

@Npars01 @StillIRise1963

The campaigns in Swing States would love to have new migrant volunteers sign up.

I can house two people. In a neighborhood that needs serious canvassing.

Npars01 ,
@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@BlueWall @StillIRise1963

In another version, rent a large field and set up a "Summer Bible Camp" for adults. Get permits as required for a Revival gathering.

Park a 100 RV's (with appropriate water & sanitation supply to avoid contamination of ground water)

Register to vote & fan out.

Buy a defunct local rural radio station & blast away.

Alternatively, offer to lease a church's facilities and live in their parking lot while organizing a "Votes for Real Christians" campaign.

@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@BlueWall @StillIRise1963

Other ideas:

  1. Lease a dying mall or under-utilized conference center in a swing state like Ohio, Wisconsin or Georgia.

It will boost the local hotel & restaurant industry enormously too.

  1. Organize hosts for "out-of-state" house guests seeking employment or medical treatment or one of a hundred reasons to visit relatives for a few months.

@Npars01 Now is the time for action, not explanation. We’re done with that phase.

Npars01 ,
@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@StillIRise1963

Explanation informs strategy.

Information is essential to knowing where to direct action.

Inchoate disorganized action is doomed to failure because it'll fail to gain allies.

Gaining traction is critical to being effective.

@Npars01 It’s been 10 fucking years. ACT.

Npars01 ,
@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@StillIRise1963

It took billions of dollars & 50 years to end American democracy.

Action needs to be structured & funded so the fossil fuel industry doesn't decide to burn everything to the ground to thwart it.
As in world war.

Deal with the money or we will all be playing whack-a-mole with anti-democracy billionaires for decades.

Koch & others like him are laying the groundwork to fund a guerilla war on democracies for decades

@Npars01 My only point is to start working on it, stop talking about it.

Npars01 ,
@Npars01@mstdn.social avatar

@StillIRise1963

Problem: Anti-democracy zombies like the trust funds for the Bradley Foundation.

Solution: Close the loopholes in the tax system that lets transfers of wealth be opaque & gamed.

Inheritance taxes to thwart dynastic wealth. The progeny of the rich should learn to work for a living.

Tax non-profits that fund DAF's, PAC's, trust funds, etc. They lose their tax-free status if they participate in election interference.

Global alternative minimum tax rates. Tax treaties

@Npars01 Let’s narrow the focus to what can be done RIGHT NOW to disrupt this coup. Without the NOW, none of this will happen.
