@Leonor @julieofthespirits Years ago I was watching some movie with good writing, and it left me wondering why there was so much visual media with expensive sets and costumes and effects, but simple plots that still didn't make sense and clumsy dialogue.

it does strike me as straight-up bonkers that you can throw $100 million into a thing that could have been exponentially better with like $20k worth of script-doctoring

but then it turns out a lot of the worst movies were, like, corrected piecemeal when someone changed their mind after most of the movie had been made

they have this post-processing autotuner thing now that they use to tinker with plot scenes and you can tell they're abusing it when half the dialogue is coming from out of frame
