Any of my followers who is sufficiently familiar with the Python framework Twisted and could help me?

I'm trying to write an output plugin for my honeypot (which is implemented in Twisted) for sending information to a Kafka server. Problem is, the kafka-python library is synchronous (blocking) and Twisted requires asynchronous code. (There's an asynchronous Python Kafka library, afkak, but it doesn't seem to support authentication with the server.)

I gather that the idea around this problem is to use Twisted deferred calls, but I can't figure out how exactly to do it.
