The false choice between a crook and a crock obscures the fact that US power is wholly bought and sold by its corporate capitalist ruling class. With its working class atomized, the US is a fully fledged fascist regime, driving planetary destruction. #USBasesOut
@ariaflame@Jinjirrie Fascism is an expression of capitalism. Capitalists have, in fact, used trade unions along with moderate-left parties in order to direct workers away from revolutionary action.
The development of fascism in Austria was preceded by the social-democratic government ignoring calls for systemic change and ending a major strike in exchange 20% wage increase.
They used unions to absorb revolutionary energy and got fascism as a result.
@lawas@ariaflame If unions, debased as they are in the US for many decades, still had real power, there'd have already been a general strike to end US criminality and inequality.
@Jinjirrie@ariaflame And I think history shows that unions on their own aren’t sufficient to seriously challenge the ruling order. Without a revolutionary party backing the unions and synchronizing activities, even the most radical union can only do so much.
Also I can’t see the comment I originally replied to, I think that person blocked me lol. Weird, I thought my comment was pretty tame.
@lawas seems your blocker imagines the genocidal crock still warrants support. What else could one do in the ridiculous US system. Voting for the psychopathic crook is not viable either. The US political system is anti-democratic and set up to install proxies for its corporations, not servants of the people.
