Indeed, a lot of homes have solar systems now and that helps them cut costs. Unfortunately, our transformers in most areas are outdated and they're not well equipped to take the power that's being generated by all these systems and keep the grid stable (built for 1-way) It's why there are many abrupt power cuts during maximum sunlight hours in many regions. Of course, the ones with systems don't realize that.

Our grid system is frankenstein's monster, and has 1000s of issues.
