mastodon dot social is "filtering notifications" on an account that I have deliberately followed - several times now I think.

I love the overall moderation but this in particular feels a bit broken

i should be able to tell my intance that yes, in fact - I do want to follow this person and see their notifications - particularly if they are not on a blocked instance

in this case, kolectiva.social (or whatever it is)

@BeAware I am no expert, but I think the moderation built into mastodon and fedi is more good than bad - in my experience

nazis, trolls tend to be yeeted before I see much of them, and I see plenty of "capitalism is bad, actually" content... scammers are routinely flagged as well..

The devil is in the details, and those are largely based on effort and principles of the mods of that instance, I guess.

@BeAware @dannotdaniel We're talking about Mastodon dot Social right? What about that is a public service or publicly hosted?

It's owned and operated by a company or individual, right? One that pays another entity for bandwidth, and chooses to have open sign ups for its forum?

I'm not seeing the public portion any more than a coffee shop is a public space

If I'm misunderstand, please help me out. I'm confused because moderating content on a site you own and operate seems reasonable to me
