@fbievan@akurilov Indy.rest 😒🤦♂️ they have an ActivityPub account located on that domain. It's down right now apparently but they registered the domain on 6-24 and if you search Indy.rest from mastodon.social, click the account and see that the bio is copy/pasted from the Awakari account.
@fbievan@akurilov Uhhh...Awakari.com literally says "free tiers", insisting that there are paid tiers and this has been WIDELY accepted as a data seller for months here. You're free to disagree and allow them to follow you, however, Fedi should know that their data is being sold.
I've never used awakari or had to interact with that bot— I think this is mainly an issue for people on big instances— which if you are— your data is already public.. I dont see this any different than a google search engine.
@fbievan@akurilov okay, well have fun with your paid, alerts to your data I guess. In everyone else's world, it's called scraping and they wouldn't have used 5 different domains if they didn't think they were being sketchy. Just saying.🤷♂️
Legitimate businesses don't register new domains when they are blocked.
