McDonald’s is ditching its drive-through AI ordering system after too many customers wound up with totally incorrect orders like a handful of butter, hundreds of chicken nuggets, and ice cream loaded with bacon
@GottaLaff@Brandi_Buchman But wait a second, the kitchen staff are still human. Are we sure that they weren’t messing with the customers in solidarity with the window staff?
@GottaLaff@Brandi_Buchman Aaaaand now I have the final article for my upcoming presentation at Oracle Cloud World this September about why AI isn't really thinking, reasoning, or becoming sentient anytime soon. 🤣
@GottaLaff@Brandi_Buchman …they’ll continue to use AI in news articles because there is no negative result for them.
McDonald’s is different…it costs them money. If I ask for 10 nuggets and AI screws up and makes 100…I’m not going to pay for the 100…probably not the 10 either. I’m also probably not coming back to whatever McDonald’s it was too.
Silly. Everyone knows McDonalds Ice Cream machines don’t work, probably a top down conspiracy from C suite that wants out of ice cream and milkshake sales.
@GottaLaff@Brandi_Buchman Okay but have you considered that maybe an AI wrote that news story you just posted and in reality it has nothing to do with automated ordering but with McDonald's ditching all their milkshake machines and replacing them with ones that actually work?
@GottaLaff@Brandi_Buchman If everyone at McDonald's used the app to order the line would be half as long. I drive up, give the cashier a four character string, and move along. Couldn't be easier.
