I‘ve just learned a fascinating fact courtesy of the nosuchthing podcast. Apparently in the physics nomenclature of scale, there is a rule that the increasing numbers (kilo, mega, giga) are greek, but the decreasing numbers (milli, micro, nano) are latin. Who knew?
