That's the trick.

It goes back to property rights. I can tell you to get off my property, or how you conduct yourself on my property.

At an individual level, it makes sense. I don't have rights to be on your property. The world doesn't end cause I didn't get my way.

Now, at a corporation level, or multinational level, the company wants the same "get off my lawn" right... Except it's not a single house and yard. It's "you have been evicted from our castle and grounds; you have no choice"

It's not quite like fascism.. but it is close. It's more a feudalism model, where the enforcement is dystopian, plutocratic, technocratic, AND draconian. And once 'The System' decides, that is final. No checks. No balances.

Now where the stuff is definitely fascist is the "conservative" and Republican politicians. They've been white nationalist and fascist as long as I can remember, and even longer than that. (Enter Lee Atwater's hot mic moment). Those folks DO want the 1488 level shit, and will do what they can to make that happen.

It's the boundary between the fascists and techno-feudalists is what's tremendously terrifying. Fash can be dealt with, if you can group together and fight back.... But when the very platforms prevent discussion, the fight brings being lost before it starts.
