The term "climate change" was researched by the fossil fuel industry as the least scary and non-attributable to the fossil fuel industry reference they could find. Just sayin.

I see this the other way around. Global warming sounds like it could be a benign natural cycle. Climate change is potentially threatening to entire species. And there are agents driving the change, not vague global processes.

A stronger term than "change" might be employed, but "warming" is too gentle.

Their research suggested the public viewed Climate Change not as alarming as Global Warming though.
