@jerry I remember doing 12 years worth, and that feeling quite good.(and also purging 12 years of someone's read-receipt laden emails, all marked as "deleted without reading")
@jerry I had both a service van and a workbench in the shop (electronics service tech ~16 years). Tried rounding up stuff and making notes like you are now before the last day. Good thing was the van went home with me and I was able to return it a few days later. It had quite a load seeing I was still running calls on the last day.
It was a very somber experience and felt for sure I was forgetting stuff. Quitting time was 4:30pm for me but I didn't get home that night till after 10pm😑
@jerry My recipe for data detox: Have a encryption root in zfs break while you deleted the old backup, because you are in the process of rearranging your storage pools.
It's quite fast. First you wonder: "Why won't this decrypt?" You double-check the key. You confirm that the key was all right. You realize a big chunk of stuff is just gone into crypto nirvana. You start to wonder what was lost. You spiral into panic. You realize it won't help. Be at peace.
