@Ailantd As always, if you keep the levers of power in the hands of private capital, its economic logic will drive you into crisis and lead to surge of division, far right and fascism. 1929, 2008, and now the ongoing economic deprivation of working classes - on the backdrop of a handful of billionaires and corporations raking in record profits. No wonder exclusionary politics is on the rise when the material existence is radically antidemocratic.
@Ailantd from germany here. It was a punch in the guts. But no wonder. The other parties work hard for the far right 😒and the news-/ Talkshow-media does the rest. And the socialmedia / digital media competence of the „left“ was always extremely week here. We had one great time where the young parts of Parties had the control over the media. It was awesome… but the old ways were stronger and silenced the young groups quickly.
“Nazism formally National Socialism is the far-right totalitarian socio-political ideology and practices associated with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party”.
So days after the 80th D-Day commemoration and all the emotions and powerful memories of our WWII veterans who freed us from the Nazi’s, the far right make gains in the EU elections. France calls a snap election…
WTF is wrong with us? Do we learn nothing from our mistakes?
@Ailantd
I thought Greece was bad but EU as a whole is a BIG mess... I don't get #1 why most people don't vote at all, #2 why they think that von der Layen, and far right and war and racism will solve anything #3 why are they ignorant and / or apathetic on the above.... We're in for baaaaad years.... Lead by daaaangerous people
@Ailantd
Media is extremely pushing towards agendas sadly instead of pointing out flaws and mistakes and warn. But tbh I have found sites and newspapers and reporters that do exactly that. At least they try. But most of the time, to my experience, they're rarely heard :/ And aren't "mainstream" so that they are easily found :( It's a downward spiral...
@ntoyohito Yes, I know there are exceptions, but those don't make the fourth power. As long as mass media don't do it's job, there is no solution I think.
Democracy can't hardly perform well without honest information.
@Ailantd We're in for some rough waters here in America as well.
Maybe this is part of a bigger picture. Like the world will have to go through some terrible stuff to come out the other side to a world meant for everyone.
