I actually get why a lot of people might be disappointed in The Acolyte, but if you always wanted a late-90s Star Wars tv series, you are in for one hell of a treat. Digging the SG1 or Farscsape-light vibe.

@mikertrice I liked The Acolyte, but do the Star War shows have to increase their budget for extras. The universe, with the exception of like Andor, seems so underpopulated.

@Tim_Eagon @mikertrice for early Mando and Obi that was mostly due to pandemic restrictions and the reliance on Volume

@bedirthan @mikertrice The first season of the Mandalorian has plenty of extras since it was filmed prior to COVID. S2 definitely has less, but yeah, Kenobi was probably the worst offender (understandably so).

@Tim_Eagon @mikertrice I remember so much of him in his ship or other things due to Volume

@bedirthan @mikertrice Yeah, when Mando is in civilization, there's plenty of extras in S1, less so in S2 - but Mando overall has been pretty good in that department. But like almost everything else, it doesn't compare to Andor!

@Tim_Eagon @bedirthan I do think the Volume plays a key role. It's unfortunate we'll never see what Kenobi would have looked like without it.

@mikertrice @bedirthan TBF, the series had bigger problem than it's misuse of the Volume.

@Tim_Eagon @bedirthan Yes, the volume turned every issue to 11. Given Star Wars is more a visual medium than even most other sci-fi, I would have liked to have seen it with fair cinematography.

@mikertrice @bedirthan IDK, the Volume basically made a major city seem deserted, but it wasn't responsible for the failure in writing and direction in the middle of the season.

mikertrice OP ,

@Tim_Eagon @bedirthan Definitely the writing, but I do think the Volume is a visual director's nightmare.

@mikertrice @bedirthan If I remember correctly, Deborah Chow had worked on a couple of episodes of The Mandalorian, so you'd think she would've been more familiar with the technology. That said, even though I think the writing was the primary problem, the direction in scenes like the kidnapping of Leia, the first confrontation between Vader and Kenobi, and the Imperial assault on the rebel probably weren't caused by the Volume.
