For me it was when Facebook casually mentioned at some conference that they were intentionally performing (successful) psychological experiments on teenage users to manipulate their thoughts and feelings and then a couple of days later it wasn't even part of the news cycle.

I mean, as much as I'm no lover of huge pharma companies, if one of them admitted to experimenting on teenagers with mind altering substances and no consent, they'd be sued to oblivion in a heartbeat.
