@deinol Which is why the world's largest and safest high-speed train network is here, why they're going all-in on research and manufacturing of renewable energy, etc.
One of the frustrating things about democracy is how it, like capitalism, rewards only short-term thinking. I really would like to see a government that isn't despotic that can also have the long view.
Despotism has obvious flaws, and in this day and age of ramping-up existential threats so does democracy.
Agreed. I know that I don’t know nearly enough to understand China and its politics, but I do know not to trust western news to report unbiased about it.
And over here I get to “choose” between a full on fascist party and an incompetent capitalist one. 🤬🤬🤬
I know there are good people here trying to make my country a better place, but the system is rigged to help the rich and screw the rest of us.
@deinol I'm pretty sure nobody understands China's politics, and not very many understand its governance either. 😂 It is really hard to figure out how the same people who were willing to take a huge economic hit to stop five million people (or likely more!) from dying of COVID-19 are doing some of the other shit they're doing that's absolutely inhuman.
I've been here for 23 years now. I still don't get it.
