Live Nation/Ticketmaster is a monopoly, which is why it can get away with providing awful service, charging exorbitant prices, and tacking on fees as high as 75% of the ticket price.
The DoJ will announce an antitrust lawsuit against the company this week.
@rbreich I, for one, will be happy to see an entirely different set of lawyers make a bunch of money while we continue to get gouged for concert tickets.
@rbreich Tickets advertised as 40 bucks cost me $65+ at the end. No option to print the tickets - we had to install their app and use it. Plenty of other issues. So yeah, avoid Ticketmaster.

Perplexity AI: #Obama "Justice Department's antitrust regulator at the time, Christine A. Varney, claimed the merger would allow "enough air and sunlight in the space for strong competitors to take root, grow, and thrive". However, this has not materialized, as Live Nation Entertainment now controls "nearly every aspect" of the ticket business, leading to record-high ticket prices and onerous fees for consumers." #LiveNation#Ticketmaster#ticketing#monopoly
@rbreich Live Nation/Ticketmaster is a huge part of why I only go to see bands at bars, clubs, and small auditoriums. Those club owners and performers need my financial support; Ticketmaster and Bruce Springsteen do not.
@rbreich about damn time. The Android app won't even let you log in right now, it's been broken for over 2 years. I was one of the people who sat in a queue for 6 HOURS for #taylorswift tickets. Of course, I expect absolutely nothing to be done here.
